Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February of 2020. Her largest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who would drink sometimes and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled with her education and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran began in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
