Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and she is also the highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for health care, federal de-scheduling and cannabis legalization as a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
